Unlike the previous Watchdoc films, The Bajau is a film that doesn’t touch the core of the problem directly. The audience is presented with daily recordings of the Bajau residents, which are scattered along the coast of Sulawesi. For the first time, the announcement of the opening of public screening was accompanied by the collection of donations for residents who were filmed. In collaboration with The Alliance of Independence Journbalist ini Indonesia (AJI) Gorontalo and Kendari, the donations collected were approximately 40 million rupiah from 170 pscreening locations. The funds were used for cleft lip surgery, the purchase of a boat, and the purchase of a boat engine. We will use the rest of the use of donations for the production of a second film related to the characters in the first film. The next series of The Bajau will be released in 2022.
