Learning & Initiatives
WATCHDOC COLLABORATIONS
Watchdoc Collaborations is an initiative that opens a platform for students, university communities, independent journalists, and emerging filmmakers to showcase their works through the Watchdoc Documentary YouTube channel.
This program reflects Watchdoc’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s documentary ecosystem, while supporting the growth of a new generation of documentary filmmakers through exposure, collaboration, and public engagement.
WATCHDOC SCHOOL
Watchdoc School is a documentary production training program offering courses ranging from basic to master classes. The program is designed for both emerging and professional filmmakers, as well as communication and documentation staff from various institutions.
Through a participatory learning process, participants are encouraged to develop the skills and critical understanding needed to produce audio visual works for diverse purposes—grounded in context, research, and responsible storytelling.
PUBLIC SCREENINGS
Public Screenings are community-focused film viewing events organized to bring Watchdoc documentary works directly to diverse audiences in Indonesia and beyond. These screenings often include watch parties (nobar) and post-film discussions, creating opportunities for audiences to engage with film content in meaningful, communal spaces.
Through these events, Watchdoc supports public access to documentary works that explore issues of social, environmental, and political significance. Public Screenings encourage dialogue, critical reflection, and shared learning—whether held at universities, community centers, cultural spaces, or independent venues. This initiative reflects Watchdoc’s commitment to connecting documentary storytelling with broader public engagement and collective conversation.
Public Screenings have been used as platforms for interactive discussions and community debate following the viewing of documentary films, helping to deepen understanding of the topics presented and strengthen civic awareness among participants.
