Thousands of Indonesian students from various universities staged a protest and took to the streets in front of the Arjuna Wijaya Statue on Jalan Merdeka Barat on Monday, February 17, 2025, as part of the Dark Indonesia movement.
The Dark Indonesia movement is a nationwide protest that has taken place in multiple cities across Indonesia. It stems from public dissatisfaction with President Prabowo Subianto’s policies, which are perceived as deviating from the principles of social justice, democracy, and public welfare.
The protesters have put forward 13 demands, including free education and the cancellation of education budget cuts.
