The 2024 Indonesian presidential and vice presidential election has begun with the initial stages, namely the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates. Registration for presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates starts from October 19 to October 25 2023.
The both of Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan and Vice President Candidate Muhaimin Iskandar (cak Imin or Amin) registered on Thursday 19 October 2023 at 09.58. The general chairmen and political party elites who are members of the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) also took Anies and Cak Imin to the KPU. Both of Anies and Cak Imin departed in a procession using a Jeep. The area outside the KPU in the morning was also filled with crowds of supporters of the Presidential candidate Anies Cak Imin. The speech representing the joint leadership of the proposing political parties and the introduction of the presidential and vice presidential candidates by Surya Paloh as chairman of the Nasdem party (National Democrat), was followed by the Speech by Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan. The two of them handed over the files to the KPU symbolically and continued with the photo session.
Meanwhile, presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and Vice President Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin (Mahfud MD) officially registered themselves as presidential candidates on Thursday, October 19 at 13.10. The procession for presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and his vice president Mafud MD was using pick-up cars that had been modified into a stage. Registration was opened by the General Chairperson of the PDIP party, Megawati Soekarno Putri, followed by a welcoming speech by Presidential Candidate Ganjar Pranowo. Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD then submitted their registration files to the KPU team.
Then later on, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and vice presidential candidate Gibran Raka Buming Raka registered themselves on Wednesday 25 October 2023, both of them arrived at 11.19. The general chairs and elite political parties who are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) also accompanied Prabowo and Gibran to the KPU. Both of Prabowo and Gibran departed in a procession using a Jeep. The area outside the KPU during the day was also filled with crowds of supporters of the Prabowo – Gibran candidate pair. Both of them handed over the files symbolically to other Indonesian KPUs.
