Theater and journalism are two different worlds. However, the two worlds unite in the theatrical staging of Kinrohosi and Hikayat Rejecting Reinforcements, which will be held at Erasmus Huis in early June 2023. This performance is part of the commemoration of world press freedom day organized by Project Multatuli.
Kinrohosi workers are employed just like in forced labor by Romusha. At that time, the villagers of Gumantar were forced to grow cotton, harvest, spin, and weave yarn. The grief of the Gumantar villagers undergoing Kinrohosi by planting cotton and spinning it into yarn and cloth became a scene for a theatrical performance that was played collaboratively by the Sasak Wayang Wayang School, Lampak Art Community, and UNU West Nusa Tenggara Sendratasik.
