Indonesian Migrant Workers abroad are indeed a vulnerable group when Covid-19 hit the world. More specifically, PMIs with undocumented status. It is the story of Indonesian migrant workers during the Covid-19 outbreak that is raised in the latest documentary produced by Watchdog Documentary entitled ‘Undocumented’. This film raises the fate of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. ‘Undocumented’ film captures the fate of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Malaysia trapped in Kongsi (Migrant workers living quarters working house). Not only trapped in kongsi, but Indonesian Migrant Workers are also starving as they can’t work and cannot buy food due to the Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdown policy imposed by the Kingdom of Malaysia. This 1 hour and 15-minute film also tells the story of several migrant workers who died from the Covid-19 Virus and had to be buried in Malaysia at their own expense.
The film ‘Undocumented’ was launched on March 7 2020, with watching activities together at the Visinema Picture amphitheatre, Cilandak, South Jakarta. The discussion followed after the screening program.
The Screening and discussion program was attended by various groups, including former migrant workers, migrant worker organizations, women’s activity groups, environmental activists, law and human rights activists and youth activists.
